Ready to kennel?
Ok, I think I want to use a kennel or boarding facility. What do I have to be to be ready?
First, is your dog or cat mentally ready to kennel? I know it sounds crazy but you
have to understand your pet's mental state. Do they get along with other dogs and cats? What
about meeting (human) strangers? Will they behave and obey as they do you?
Secondly, it is important to make sure you know what the prerequisites of the kennel are. Some kennels
require that an animal have spent some amount of time at the kennel prior to an overnight stay.
Also, kennels are required to check for things like vaccinations.
Finally, it is necessary to be sure that you are ready. We are all emotionally attached
to our animals and need to understand our own fears.
